The Sako 85 Hunter is a copy of the factory original hunter design stock.  It has a Monte Carlo cheekpiece and a palm swell. It also has a small amount of cast off and cant, which makes for easier target acquisition. The forend of this stock is very narrow.

These stocks are inlet and drop in ready for a Right Handed Sako 85 in model S, SM, M & L with factory detachable box mag and sporter barrel contour.  If you have a magnum barrel, the stocks barrel channel can be sanded open to free float your barrel.  The Sako 85 Hunter stocks are inlet for the L shaped 1.5″ press fit recoil lug and the 2 screw recoil lug (see photo for the 2 different recoil lug types).

    (verified owner):

The Pros: the fit of the stock is very good with my Sako 85 Grey Wolf .30-06. The accuracy is better with the stock than the original, MOA to sub-MOA. Let’s face it, that’s the most important thing.
The Cons: for some reason they sent the stock to me without the rear sling swivel stud, only the front. The threads were inlaid but the hole to put the stud in wasn’t even drilled. I thought it best to take it to a gunsmith and thankfully he only charged me $15 bucks to get the stud swivel in.

A suggestion; it would be nice if there were a few more color choices for the drop-ins rather that waiting 4-5 months for a custom one. I preferred black but they were out and maybe would have liked to have a camo choice as well. GAP camo or forest, etc.

    Hi Frank,
thank you for your review. My apologies we forgot to install the rear stud. We would of gladly fixed that at no charge to you of course but glad to hear your gunsmith took care of it. We’ll work on getting some more color options available in our online store for the 85 series. thanks again for your business!
