What is barrel contour, and what information do you need from me to build my stock?

Contour refers to the overall shape, taper, and thickness of the barrel. It’s what allows us to inlet your stock precisely for the barrel and action you’re running, and it’s how we make sure the barrel floats free with zero contact, every time.

That’s why we need specific information from you before we build.

If it’s the factory barrel that came on your rifle, we just need the caliber.

If it’s a custom barrel, we need three things: the barrel maker, the contour number, and the finished length of the chamber shank/cylinder, measured from the front of the receiver forward to the first contour change on the barrel.

Most barrel manufacturers publish detailed contour specs on their websites, that’s a good place to start if you’re not sure what you’re working with.
